Der Spiegel meldet soeben, dass US-Airways ein Kaufangebot von 8 Mrd. für die unter Chapter 11 fliegende Delta abgegeben hat. Es würde die größte amerikanische Fluglinie und die stärkste Linie auf der Transatlantikstrecke entstehen. Delta ist Mitglied in Skyteam, US-Airways bei der Star Alliance. Hier der Link http://www.spiegel.de/wirtschaft/0,1518,448622,00.html Ich persönlich sähe den Zusammenschluss aus mehreren Gründen kritisch: Das Allianzproblem ist vom Spiegel bereits angeschnitten worden. Lufthansa hätte m.E. ein Problem mit einem dermaßen starken Partner. Es würde die Gewichte innerhalb der Allianz eindeutig Richtung USA verschieben. Für Sky Team wäre es schon interessanter, da US-Airways von der Bedeutung her kleiner ist, als Delta. Dort würde es aber ein ziemliches kartellrechtliches Problem geben. Es gab ja schon bei CO und NW Zoff. Richtung Europa überschneiden sich beide Linien m.E. zu stark. Da gäbe es sicher die einen oder anderen Streckeneinstellungen. Inneramerikanisch sehe ich das Problem allerdings nicht. Beide Partner sind Richtung Asien relativ schwach. Also macht auch hier der Zusammenschluss nicht wirklich als Ergänzung Sinn. Last but not least, kann ich mir alles vorstellen, aber nicht dass US Airways in der Lage ist, den Merger zu stemmen. Weder finanziell noch von den Managementkapazitäten her. Die Börse sah das offensichtlich anders ( US Airways Aktien sind 2 % gestiegen ) aber dort sitzen ja auch nicht gerade wirkliche Luftfahrtexperten. Weit mehr Sinn würde der schon öfters angedachte merger zwischen DL und NW sein. Die würden sich nämlich perfekt ergänzen. Dazu müssten aber beide zuerst einmal aus Chapter 11 raus. Abwarten, was die nächsten Tage und Wochen bringen. Auf jeden Fall bleibt es spannend
Bin zwar noch nicht US Air geflogen, aber ich sehe ein Wechsel von Star zu Sky für Lufthansa oder die gesamte STAr WENIGER kritisch.
Ich glaube die sind mit UA schon ganz gut aufgestellt (fliegen die noch unter Chapter 11?). Ich komme im Moment auf 12 Direktflüge. Sicherlich wer nur auf den Preis schaut wird UA/US Air fliegen (auch die Amis). Wer jedoch die Wahl in C und F (Award oder noch schlimmer bezahlt) wird immer LH wählen. So tun es auch die meisten Amis. Aber schauen wir mal, ich lasse mich gern eines besseren belehren. Ciao

Nach anderen Infos, die ich habe, soll die Marke US Airways verschwinden und der ganze Laden unter Delta firmieren. AF und Delta zu trennen halte ich für genauso unmöglich, wie die Trennung zwischen UA und LH. US könnte viel leichter switchen. Dennoch. Ich glaube immer noch nicht an das Zustandekommen. Es wäre schlichter Unsinn. Das wäre so, als wenn Porsche VW kauft, um dann den Namen Porsche einzustampfen und in Zuffenhausen auf Golf Produktion umzusatteln. Es macht einfach keinen Sinn.
Die Umsinnigkeit ergibt sich schon aus den Veröffentlichungen von US Airways Diese Karte hier zeigt recht eindeutig, dass die beiden sich zwar auf bestehenden Märkten verstärken würden, in bisher schwachen Märkten ( Westen und Asien ) schwach bleiben würden. Ich bleibe dabei, die Fusion wäre Unsinn!

Delta Gläubger stimmen für Delta als stand alone: ATLANTA, Dec. 20 (AP) — The unsecured creditors’ committee in the Delta Air Lines bankruptcy said Wednesday that it supported Delta’s decision to file a stand-alone reorganization plan but that it would also weigh alternatives. The committee, which has a critical role in deciding the airline’s fate, had been largely silent since the Nov. 15 disclosure that US Airways had made an unsolicited $8.4 billion bid for Delta. The committee did not elaborate on its views, and a lawyer for it, Daniel Golden, did not return repeated calls and e-mail messages seeking comment. Delta’s plan says it will be worth as much as $12 billion after bankruptcy. US Airways says Delta is worth what US Airways bid: $8.4 billion. The creditors must decide which proposal makes more sense. Delta also said Wednesday that it would begin accepting applications for pilot positions in anticipation of exhausting its recall of furloughed pilots next year. The Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation gave its final approval on Wednesday for a plan to terminate the pensions of Delta’s pilots, a crucial step toward resolving a multibillion-dollar issue in the bankruptcy case. Analysts differed Wednesday on whether Delta’s valuation, which it announced in its plan a day earlier, is realistic in light of high fuel prices, the slowing economy and the airline industry’s history in recent years of bad financial news.
